What is a Chanel serial number?
Every Chanel bag carries a unique serial number, usually affixed inside, often near the lining. This number helps identify the year of production and the specific model.
From 2021 onwards, Chanel replaced the serial number sticker with an embedded electronic chip in the lining. Therefore, newer pieces no longer have serial numbers.

How to check the authenticity of a Chanel bag?

Step 2: Interpret the serial number
Use the table above to determine the year of production, ensuring it corresponds to the manufacturing period of the model in question. A Boy bag dated 2005, for example, would be impossible: the model did not exist yet.
Step 3: Check the bag's details
Compare the serial number with the bag's finishes: materials, stitching, hardware. An authentic Chanel bag is distinguished by its exceptional quality of execution.
The serial number alone is not enough
